Briefly — I find myself surprised and glad. This second volume has outstripped the shape I first imagined: the voices are sharper, the grief more honest, and the tenderness truer. Across two centuries the tools and names change, yet the same ache and the same hope remain; humanity’s questions about meaning, care, and work travel like a candle from hand to hand. That constancy reassures me: imagining is not escape but a necessary labor of survival.
